Before you apply
Check the offer, the account, and the costs
A Tide referral code, Tide promo code, and Tide bank referral code all refer to the sign-up journey, but the right account is more important than a one-off promotion. Check the current campaign terms and the ongoing account costs before you apply.
What the REFER200 offer actually is
Tide rewards new businesses that sign up with a code attached: you apply with the code, and you become eligible for a cash bonus once you do specific things with the account. There are two ways to get one. An existing Tide customer can refer a friend, which pays a smaller standard bonus. Or you can use a partner code — a code issued to an approved Tide referral partner, which carries a materially larger, enhanced bonus than the customer refer-a-friend route. REFER200 is a partner code, which is why the figure here is up to £200 rather than the smaller amount a friend referral pays.
The headline figure is up to £200, and the words "up to" are doing real work. It is not a signing-on payment for opening the account. It is two conditional payments stacked together, and if you only satisfy one condition you only get one part of the money.
At the time of writing the bonus is structured as £75 for qualifying card spend on the Tide card, plus £125 for funding a Tide Instant Saver savings account and leaving the money there for the qualifying period. Tide sets the minimum amounts and the deadlines, it has changed them before, and its terms are the only authoritative version — read Tide's REFER200 offer terms before you rely on any figure here. We verified the split on 29 August 2026.
Who is eligible
Eligibility is narrower than most affiliate pages admit. You need to be applying for a Tide business account as a UK business — sole trader, freelancer, contractor or limited company — with a UK address and a government-issued ID that Tide can verify. The code has to be attached before the application is submitted, and only new Tide customers qualify.
You will not qualify if you already have or have previously held a Tide account, if you are looking for personal banking, or if your business type sits outside Tide's accepted list. Certain higher-risk sectors are declined at underwriting regardless of the referral code.

How to redeem the code, step by step
The whole journey takes place in Tide's app, and the referral code field appears once — early on. Follow the five steps below and do not skip ahead: the order matters, because the code cannot be added after your account is approved.

Start the application from our link (or type the code in)
Our button opens Tide's own sign-up flow with REFER200 attached. If you started elsewhere, put REFER200 in the referral code field before you submit — it cannot be added after approval.
Enter your business and personal details
Sole traders give their trading name and address. Limited companies need the company number and details of anyone holding 25% or more of the shares.
Verify your identity
A photo of a government-issued ID plus a short selfie video. This is the step that stalls applications — use good light and make sure the ID is in date.
Wait for approval
Most applications are decided in minutes. If Tide asks for more evidence — proof of address or trading activity — the account stays pending until you send it.
Meet the bonus conditions
The bonus is not paid on approval. You unlock £75 through qualifying card spend and £125 by funding a Tide Instant Saver, within the windows set out in Tide's terms.
Ready to apply with code REFER200?
The code is applied automatically, and you can still check it appears in the referral field before submitting.
T&Cs apply. Eligibility criteria must be met. Read Tide's full REFER200 offer terms.

The two routes: account only, or account plus company formation
Tide offers the referral bonus through two different application flows. Pick the one that matches where your business already is — the bonus itself is the same.

Why use a referral link rather than going direct
Plainly: going direct without a code means you get no bonus at all. Tide only pays a sign-up bonus on applications that carry a valid code, and the code cannot be applied retrospectively once the account is open. Going direct also means you miss the enhanced partner-code bonus: REFER200 is a partner code, so it pays more than the standard customer refer-a-friend reward for exactly the same account.
Our side of it is equally simple. Tide pays us a commission for referrals that convert. That is how this site is funded, it is why we can publish these guides for free, and it is disclosed on every page rather than buried. It changes nothing about your account: same pricing, same features, same support queue. What we will not do is pretend the commission does not exist, or write a review with no downsides in it — our editorial policy sets out how we handle that.
Is it worth it?
A bonus is a bad reason to pick a business account on its own. Work out the running cost for how you actually trade — how much cash you deposit, how many transfers you send, whether you need multiple users — and only then treat the £200 as a tie-breaker.

Tide suits businesses that live in an app, deposit little or no cash, and want an account open today. It suits you much less if you handle cash daily, need branch banking, or want lending from the same provider. Our full Tide bank review goes through where it falls down, and the fees page has the numbers.
